Q: I want to make 3-D effect on my sketch, but I do not know where the shadow area is.

Hello! For those of you who are learning Car Design, CDA instructor is going to share some techniques today.

Q: I want to make 3-D effect on my sketch, but I do not know where the shadow area is.

First of all, let me explain a difference between “Shadow” and “Shade.”

Shadow is a dark figure or image cast on the ground by intercepting of light. For example, a dark shape that appears in front of you when the sunlight is hitting on your back. That is shadow.

Shade is an area of darkness that is produced when something blocks the light. For instance, upper half of area is blight and lower area is dark in horizontal cylinder. That is shade.

You will succeed to make 3D effect by using those “Shadow” and “Shade” effectively!
